The Company

Our client is a leading High-Tech Semiconductor Manufacturing MNC, with an extensive reach around the globe. They provide hardware solutions to highly reputable clients in various sectors. Our client is constantly improving their supply chain network internationally to ensure alignment with the commercial goals and they are currently looking for an experienced and hands-on Trade Compliance Director/Senior Director to join its global team based in Singapore.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

You will be acting as the Subject Matter Expert and will report to the General Counsel (Group's Head of Legal) based in China, and will be responsible in overseeing all daily logistics trade transactions, processes, documentation, and due diligence across the globe

  • Business partner with key senior stakeholders internally (CEO, COO, CFO, CPO) and externally to ensure smooth implementation of Trade Compliance programs and initiatives
  • Business partner and support Logistics and Manufacturing team to ensure smooth logistics flow across the various manufacturing and customer sites e.g. US, China, Germany, Singapore, Korea etc
  • Ensure compliance with all import, export license and control regulations and requirements regionally
  • Account for the HTS / ECCN / Tariff Classifications and the Global Trade system processes
  • Establish strategic Customs valuation strategies for various destinations in the region
  • Conduct periodic process, transactional, and safety audits and validations
  • Review and approve all periodic and applicable customs and logistics compliance reports
  • Design and deliver training materials and programs on related trade compliance & customs topics to cross-functional teams and business units in order to ensure that highest compliance standards targets are adhere to
  • Address all communications, queries, and audits from local government authorities
  • Provide direction and resolution for all regional trade and logistics issues, as well as the team's development and capability in mitigating issues within various markets

Candidate Profile

  • Minimally possessing a Bachelor of International Business, Law, Customs Law, Logistics, Engineering, Finance or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 7 years' of experience effectively managing trade compliance processes, and customs regulations within the Semiconductor industry
  • Experience with import and export license determination, regional free trade agreements, special customs authorizations and customs security programs
  • Strong working knowledge of import/export regulations, controls and trade compliance practices within Asia as well as US-China export controls
  • Ability to understand and work within a multitude of government regulatory schemes and agencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem solving skills and ability to partner closely with internal key stakeholders e.g. logistics, sales, R&D, manufacturing
  • Excellent knowledge with MS Office applications and Global Trade Management systems
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP will be advantageous
  • Willing to travel for work purposes
